Volunteer Headquarters
We're all set for August but we will update this page if there are future projects to volunteer on.
AUGUST BUILDING SITE:
We will be building a home for Estela (see "News" section) on the outskirts of Huehuetenango in the western highlands of Guatemala bordering Mexico. Huehue ("way-way") is on the ridge of the Cuchumatanes mountain range. Depending on the final building site—which we should know by end of June—we could be anywhere from 980 feet above sea level to over 10,000 feet above sea level.
WEATHER:
You'll need to be prepared for all types of weather: Rain is likely in Huehuetenango, which has a tropical monsoon climate with a short dry season. The average low in August is 58 degrees Fahrenheit with a high of 78 degrees.
VACCINATIONS:
Please visit the Centers for Disease Control website about preparing for travel to Guatemala, especially for children.

Week of August 3, 2015: Loren, local staff and first volunteer team begin work
Week of August 10: Second volunteer team arrives

Week of August 24 and beyond: Local staff complete work
